Overview

Be ready to scout some of the most equisite spots of Meghalaya. You will be exploring some amazing manicured parks, historical churches, waterfalls and many more in Shillong which will give you an amazing feeling about the place primarily. Then the various marvelous view points, highest waterfalls plunging from forested clifftops and naturally formed fantastic caves of Cherrapunji and Mawsynram will bound you to think twice about leaving this place and returning back to your home. Oh wait! The crystal clear water of Dawki and the adventure you are going to experience will have your heart with such adrenaline rush that we bet you would want to come back to this place every year. Needless to mention that the drive around this state is itself something that you won’t be able to forget along with the awesome delicacies of Meghalaya.

Day 1 :

Guwahati To Shillong

• You’ll be picked up from any spot around Guwahati and then you’ll directly head to the place which refer as the abode of clouds i.e. Meghalaya.
• Have your breakfast in a good and hygienic dhaba or restaurant in the way to Shillong.
• Tighten your seat belts as the 3 hrs journey on the wavy road surrounded with gorgeous views will take you to your first stop which is Borapani Lake. This lake is known for its beauty and serenity. Spend some time, click picture, have bhutta while admiring the soothing view of the lake along with the surroundings.
• Soon you’ll head to the Rock capital of India i.e. Shillong. Drive directly to the Shillong view point where you’ll get to witness the entire Shillong. Don’t forget to click pictures wearing the traditional Khasi outfit.
• Then you’ll follow to the most dramatic, multi-tiered waterfalls in Shillong known as the Elephant falls. The waterfall is named so owning to the presence of an elephant-shaped rock on one side of the fall. It is a superb place for spending some time in the midst of nature while you capture the incredible moments for your keepsake. Don’t forget to buy some amazing souvenirs from the stalls over there.
• The day will be coming to an end but don’t worry. We have something more for you. Head to the very beautiful and holistic church which was built over 50 years ago. The Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians is the principal place of worship of over 3,00,000 strong Catholics of Shillong. This place is worth exploring.
• If you have more time in your hand, head to Ward’s lake and enjoy the evening there witnessing the beautiful cherry trees, lake, birds chirping and boating too. And if not, then head to your hotel/home-stay directly and rest. You can come out for a short walk in the evening as the place closes by 8 pm.

Day 2 :

Shillong to Cherapunjee

• Wake up early as you have to unfold some amazing treasures of Cherrapunji and Mawsynram today. Freshen up quickly and fill your bellies with some delicious and healthy breakfast. It is suggested to wake up as early as possible because all the spots are located far away from one another and it is not recommended to drive when the sun sets.
• Secure your seat belts as you’re going to have a crazy ride amidst the clouds and through the wavy road of Meghalaya. You’ll explore the beauty of Eco park which is home to a vast variety of indigenous orchids given by the Shillong Agri-Horticulture society. Enjoy the lovely view of the ‘Green Canyons’ of Cherrapunji along with the waterfalls that are located nearby. It also has a crystal clear water stream in its boundaries. Right from the other side of the park, admire the amazing views of the plains of Bangladesh as well.
• After that drive to witness the Seven Sister falls which is dramatic waterfall, some of the highest in India, over limestone cliffs in a picturesque setting. The falls is separated with seven streams of water which examples the seven sister states of Northeast India. The entire landscape looks heavenly with lush greenery all around the hills.
• Then we will follow directly to one of the amazing caves of Meghalaya, the Mawsmai cave. The well lit caves are a view to behold when the glistening lights meet with the limestone to create countless hues and patterns of light. This spot will left you spellbound by the way it is formed naturally.
• And the final and last spot of the day is the Nohkalikai falls which is the tallest plunge waterfall in India. It is located on one of the wettest places on Earth. Well, there’s an interesting story behind this waterfall which you’ll discover only when you will explore this breathtaking place.
• Return to your home-stay/hotel by evening. Relax a bit, have your dinner and sleep tight as you’ll go for some amazing adventures the next day.

Day 3 :

Mawlynnong to Dawki

• Wake up to a welcoming morning and freshen up yourself. Have your breakfast quickly and get into your car with all the excitement as you’ll be going to visit the cleanest village of Asia, the living root bridge and the crystal clear Dawki River where you will be having the best time of your life.
• Crossing the clouds you’ll reach Mawlynnong-the cleanest village of Asia. This village is also called ‘God’s own Garden. You will be awestruck once you enter this village. It is too serene, too clean and too beautiful. Enjoy the entire village tour.
• You’ll be heading towards the phantasmagorical Living Root Bridge which is formed by guiding the pliable roots of the rubber tree across the stream and then allowing the roots to grow and strengthen over time until they can hold the weight of a human being. This spot is worth visiting as you’ll be extremely satisfied with the environment over there.
• Soon, you’ll drive directly to Dawki River where you’ll be doing some crazy adventure activities such as kayaking, cliff jumping, snorkeling etc. In the evening, head to your campsite, relax while star gazing over bonfire and some delicious dinner. Rest for the night.

Day 4 :

Goodbye to Meghalaya

• Wake up to the lazy morning. Get ready as you’ll be saying adieu to this beautiful place soon. Drive directly back to Guwahati and then to your home safely with all the amazing and cherishable memories treasuring in your heart.
